A stroll through a Baltimore antique shop has turned up an unsuspected treasure — a rare photograph of Mary Edmonia Lewis, the first 19 t h century African-American sculptor to receive international recognition.

BlackPhoenix66‘s insight:

A note to Spike and all those fighting over the validity of the presentation of Django and its effects on the African American community, stop fighting and make this movie

Those up in arms over the ratchet-ness exemplified in certain popular reality shows – hit me up when you create the petition to get this woman’s life made into a film or made for TV movie.

Until then – have  a seat – at the children’s table
