Choose One Day To Relive…

It is the only day that in 43 years of living on this earth, I would redo until the powers that be forbid me from doing so.

On a partly cloudy day in June of 2005 I stood in the aisle and watched my son march down in his cap and gown, and take his seat on stage as Valedictorian of his graduating class. An achievement impressive in and of itself. In this instance more so, as my son had just in the previous year had a life threatening battle with a very rare form of cancer. He spent the summer of the previous year, 2004 in the hospital. Most of it in Intensive Care. Culminating in a marathon surgery session that lasted 12 hours.

I could write a litany of the things that transpired prior to that day in June that should have precluded anyone let alone him from taking that march and ultimately taking his seat on stage. I wont do that because this is supposed to be about reliving one day and that day I would relive over and over again as many times as allowed. The triumph, and the courage and the poise that was on display by a 19 year old from East New York Brooklyn was…as they say about those kodak moments…..Priceless…
